Hey book slayers!
Jana here with yet another review. This time, I was sent an ARC through NetGalley by Xpresso Book Tours of KM Robinson‘s The Revolution of Jack Frost in exchange for an honest review. The book is set to release of near the beginning of November.
My Rating: 2 / 5
First let me say – I don’t really think I was in the mind-set for this style of book at the exact moment, and it very well could have affected my review. I found this book very hard to get in to, and after the wild adventure I went on in the last book I read, I felt this to be slow and drawn out, it actually took quite a bit of will not to DNF it. I do plan to purchase the book when it is released, and re-read and re-review when I am in a better mindset, but I have a funny feeling it may fall flat again.
I don’t know what it was, but between the cheesy romance, the strange concept, the less than convincing character development, and the expectation from when I read the title and saw the cover, to when I read the actual book, I just wasn’t thrilled. I was expecting a lot more out of this and it fell really flat for me. The concept is interesting; living in a snow globe, the weather being controlled by a big brother sort of character, pushing them to survive, to be stronger. But the execution didn’t draw me in, which is a shame. The characters didn’t draw me in at all, there wasn’t one character I felt any real attachment or feeling for. I didn’t really care what happened to any of them, and that is a first for me in a book.
I can’t say I would rush out and recommend this to my family or friends, but, I will eventually make a purchase, if not only for the sake of having this stunning cover on my shelves.
Until next review; may your coffee be strong, and your books be magical!
