Today I decided to post about the other birthday book box I got! My amazing husband ordered me a CushyCrate subscription for my birthday, and the July theme was one I just couldn’t pass up.
Deanna put together an amazing box dedicated all to magical creatures – and if you know me, I love animals more than I love people, and I LOVE magic, so this was right up my alley. Not to mention, Deanna is located in western Canada, which makes me so happy because I adore to support within my own country (yay fellow Canadians!).
So, without further adieu, let’s dive on in to the contents of this amazing subscription box.
CushyCrate’s July box consisted of some amazingly magical items, and I cannot wait to share them all with you. This book box was definitely BookishWiccan Approved, I would suggest this book box to anyone who asks which you should subscribe to. Not only is Deanna one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of speaking with through this community, she goes above and beyond for her customers, and her customer service cannot be compared.
The first thing I pulled out of the box was the BEAUTIFL spoiler card (see bottom right of above photo!). The artwork consisting of a beautiful mermaid atop a unicorn, with the dragons flying in the background fits out magical creature theme perfectly, because let’s be serious, what’s more magical than dragons and unicorns?!
After my spoiler card, I pulled out was an adorable Funko Pocket Pop of Drogon from Game Of Thrones. Now I will not deny that I have NEVER watched the TV series, or read the books, but, I do have a soft spot for dragons (it’s part of the reason why my husband and I bought a bearded dragon!).
After this adorable Pocket Pop, the next item I was pleased to find in this box was a green tea “shower steamer” from Ashley at FairyTaleBathCo. Now, I have never used a shower steamer, though the back of this BEAUTIFUL dragon’s egg states I can use it as a bath bomb as well, so we will see what I decide to do with it in the end, if anything since it’s SO beautiful I’m not sure I even want to use it!
Next, I got to pull out a wonderful bonus item Deanna included in this box for me as a birthday surprise (big thanks again to her for making me feel so special for my birthday!) which was a stunning candle from WickAndFable – first and foremost, purple is my favourite colour, so big bonus there. Second, this candle smells good enough to eat. Sweet caramel and berries; I simply can’t put into words how well the scents combine together.
After my beautiful little bonus item, I was pleased to find a super cute pair of socks by none other than the wonderful Deanna. It features a beautifully whimsical unicorn, and fits along perfectly with the rest of the items in this box of magical creatures.
I was next so excited to find a beautiful bookmark based upon one of my favourite fandoms, Fantastic Beasts. It features the most adorable drawing of a Niffler on one side, and Newt with his adorable Niffler on the reverse! The beautiful artwork was courtesy of Shantal at AtelierFireheart – be sure to check her work out as it is absolutely amazing!
Next, included in this box was another thing from Deanna, which was a wonderful string of Fairy Lights – now I have been dying to own a pair of these since I ordered a string online and they came damaged. I absolutely love the ambiance they can add to photos, and let’s be serious, they’re just so pretty to look at, like little stars twinkling in my library!
Possibly my favourite item in the box was the next one I pulled out. Since joining the bookstagram community, I have been saying I wanted to invest in a book sleeve. I never leave the house without a book, and sometimes I have more than one on me. With the other necessities I carry in my bag, sometimes I have found my covers to get scratches, pages to get bent, and worst of all once I had a book get water damage. So, when Deanna teamed up with Elizabeth from In Lumos Liberia to create an absolutely breathtaking mermaid book sleeve, with a beautiful sea shell design on the interior, I was thrilled.
Lastly, included in this month’s CushyCrate was the book. This month, Deanna brought us a beautiful hardcover copy of Sea Witch by Sarah Henning (click the title to head over to Goodreads for the synopsis!). I am absolutely ecstatic to read this re-telling, and to learn more about one of my favourite childhood stories. With the book, we received a wonderful letter from the author, an a select few boxes were gifted a Sea Witch button, and I was one of those lucky few!
All of the items I received are pictured above in my unboxing photo I posted to my bookstagram and more items have been featured in other photos on my page as well. I will update this post with individual photos of all the items as I get them uploaded to my computer – I am currently using an older phone as I broke my new one and it doesn’t work as well as I would like it to at times and I tend to get frustrated with it.
So, that’s it for this July book box. Again, if you’re interested and looking for a book box to subscribe to, definitely check out CushyCrate – not only are the items included amazing, but Deanna is such a hard-working, kind, selfless, wonderful woman, you can tell the effort and love put into each of these boxes, and it definitely doesn’t go unnoticed. I cannot wait to see what next months box has in store for us, and I am just DYING to get my hands on the September box after the theme was unveiled on the CushyCrate instagram page!
Stay tuned in for more reviews of all things bookish – may your coffee be strong, and your books be magical!
Happy reading loves;
